Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Network Engineer to join our infrastructure team in Groton, CT. This position is designed for a seasoned professional with over 9 years of experience in the IT networking domain. The role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring the candidate to be on-site 2-3 days per week at our Groton facility. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our global infrastructure initiatives, ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our network systems. This is a critical role that combines technical execution with strategic leadership, requiring a candidate who can navigate complex technical challenges while providing guidance to cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced subject matter expertise to solve complex business problems and contribute to the development of innovative networking methods and standards.
  • Execute and lead the analysis of intricate network situations where data evaluation requires an in-depth understanding of multiple infrastructure factors.
  • Provide high-level expertise to functional project teams and actively participate in cross-functional initiatives to align IT infrastructure with broader business objectives.
  • Function independently with significant individual judgment, operating within broadly defined policies to determine the most effective methods for achieving work goals.
  • Design, install, configure, and troubleshoot network-related issues across diverse operating systems, including both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Translate complex business requirements into robust technical specifications and scalable network solutions for a global enterprise.
  • Lead the architecture and implementation of global infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on SD-WAN and enterprise wireless network technologies.
  • Maintain and optimize high-performance wireless networks to ensure seamless connectivity across all corporate and remote locations.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure all network configurations meet stringent compliance and security standards, particularly regarding Palo Alto firewall management.

Technical Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical degree is required.
  • Minimum of 9 years of professional experience in Network IT, specifically in senior-level or lead engineering roles.
  • Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is mandatory; higher-level certifications such as CCNP are highly preferred.
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or equivalent security certification is required to manage our security perimeter.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud networking platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Proven expertise as a network solution architect within a global infrastructure environment, including hands-on experience with SD-WAN deployments.
  • Strong proficiency in troubleshooting OS-level network issues in both Linux and Windows ecosystems.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and automated configuration management systems.

Work Environment and Constraints

This position is based in Groton, Connecticut, and follows a hybrid work model (2-3 days in-office). Candidates must be local to the Connecticut or Tri-State area (NY/NJ/CT) to facilitate the required on-site presence. The interview process is conducted entirely virtually. Please note that this role is strictly open to US Citizens (USC) only. Candidates must be prepared to provide copies of their active certifications (CCNA, PCNSE, etc.) as part of the screening process. Compensation & Location

Salary: $135,000 – $175,000 per year
