Role Overview

Tek Pyramids is currently seeking a Senior PeopleSoft Technical Consultant for a critical, long-term project based in New York, NY. This position is ideal for a high-level ERP expert who brings a wealth of knowledge in PeopleSoft FSCM 9.2 and a proven track record of delivering technical excellence in complex enterprise environments. The role is structured as a hybrid engagement, requiring the consultant to be on-site in New York for three days per week, with two days of remote work. There is a significant opportunity for the role to transition into a 100% remote position based on the consultant’s performance and the evolving needs of the client. As a Senior Consultant, you will be at the forefront of technical decision-making, ensuring that the PeopleSoft ecosystem remains robust, scalable, and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.

Detailed Key Responsibilities

  • Production Support: Take ownership of the PeopleSoft production system, providing tier-3 technical support for HR, Benefits, and Payroll modules. This includes monitoring system health, managing batch processing, and ensuring that all modules are functioning at peak efficiency.
  • Module Integration: Lead the technical efforts to integrate and deploy new PeopleSoft modules. Specifically, you will work on the implementation of Time & Labor, eProcurement, Budget, and Financials. This involves mapping data structures, developing integration points, and ensuring that new modules interact seamlessly with existing systems.
  • Database Administration: Provide specialized Oracle DBA support specifically for PeopleSoft applications. This includes performance tuning, index management, and collaborating with the infrastructure team to ensure the underlying database architecture supports the application’s demands.
  • Custom Development: Design, develop, and maintain complex customizations using PeopleTools and PeopleCode. You will be responsible for creating custom Application Engines, Component Interfaces, and SQR reports that extend the standard functionality of the PeopleSoft suite.
  • Lifecycle Management: Oversee the application of patches, fixes, and major upgrades. You will perform impact analysis for PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) images and coordinate the testing and deployment of these updates across various environments.
  • Issue Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting production issues. You will research processing anomalies, implement data correction scripts, and coordinate with business analysts to resolve functional gaps.
  • Testing and Deployment: Support all phases of the testing lifecycle, including Unit Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). You will manage the migration of code through the environment stack using Phire or similar version control tools.

Technical Skills and Must-Haves

  • Core PeopleSoft: Mastery of PeopleSoft FSCM 9.2 is essential. Candidates must demonstrate deep technical knowledge of the architecture and underlying data models.
  • Procurement Expertise: A strong preference will be given to candidates who have extensive experience with the Procurement functionality within PeopleSoft. This includes eProcurement, Purchasing, and Payables.
  • Development Tools: Expert-level proficiency in PeopleTools (8.5x or higher), PeopleCode, Application Engine, and Component Interface.
  • Reporting: Advanced skills in SQR and XML / BI Publisher for generating complex financial and operational reports.
  • Web Technologies: Proficiency in JavaScript and jQuery to customize the PeopleSoft Fluid User Interface and enhance the overall user experience.
  • Database: Solid experience in Oracle DBA tasks, including SQL tuning and understanding of Oracle-specific PeopleSoft configurations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience is required. The client is looking for a seasoned veteran who has seen multiple full-lifecycle implementations and upgrades.
  • Specialized Experience: At least 3 years of direct experience in PeopleSoft integration and production support roles.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills are a must, as you will be interacting with both technical teams and business stakeholders. The ability to document technical designs and provide clear status updates is critical.
