Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe DB2 Administrator and QA Lead to join our team for a critical modernization project in New Jersey. This role is designed for a technical expert with over 10 years of experience who can bridge the gap between legacy mainframe environments and modern cloud-based architectures. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the QA strategy, overseeing complex data migrations, and ensuring the seamless rehosting of mainframe workloads onto Linux-based cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- QA Strategy and Planning: Define the comprehensive test strategy, scope, and approach for mainframe rehost transformations. You will identify testing needs across mainframe systems, rehosted applications, interfaces, and downstream systems.
- Rehost Migration Testing: Validate the correct functioning of rehosted workloads on target platforms (Linux/Cloud). This includes coordinating with migration teams to ensure JCL conversion validation and scheduler migration testing (CA 7, Control M, AutoSys).
- Data Migration QA: Create and execute data validation strategies for file-based and database migrations. You will lead efforts to compare outputs from source mainframe DB2/VSAM to target RDBMS or Cloud Datastores, ensuring data completeness and referential integrity.
- Test Execution Leadership: Lead and mentor the QA team across multiple testing phases. You will oversee test case design, execution, and reporting while managing defect triage and prioritization.
- Automation and Tooling: Utilize JCL simulators, file compare tools, and automation frameworks like Selenium, Python, or Shell scripting to enhance test efficiency.
Technical Requirements
- 10-15 years of professional QA and Mainframe administration experience.
- Deep hands-on expertise with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS.
- Proven experience in rehost modernization projects using tools like Micro Focus, AWS Mainframe Modernization, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of System Z architecture and batch processing.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum environments with excellent stakeholder management skills.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
