Position Summary

HCL Global Systems is looking for a visionary AWS Data Platform Architect to lead a long-term initiative for our premier clients, UST and Toyota, in Plano, TX. With over 15 years of IT experience, you will be the technical cornerstone for a modern data ecosystem. This role requires a deep blend of architectural foresight and hands-on engineering capability to build a scalable, secure, and high-performance data platform on AWS. You will be responsible for the strategic direction of the data platform, ensuring it supports the evolving needs of a global enterprise.

Core Architectural Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve an AWS-based data platform incorporating streaming ingestion via Kafka and API-led connectivity through MuleSoft.
  • Lead the blueprinting and incremental rollout of a new data lake architecture on S3, utilizing Athena for ad-hoc queries and Snowflake for governed analytics.
  • Establish multi-account AWS topologies ensuring strict adherence to security protocols using VPC, IAM, and KMS.
  • Define canonical data models and domain data contracts for both batch and streaming use cases.
  • Partner with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines for containerized data services running on Amazon EKS.
  • Optimize storage and compute footprints to ensure cost-efficiency without compromising performance.

Technical Stack & Requirements

  • 15+ years of total IT experience with at least 3 years dedicated to AWS Cloud Architecture.
  • Expertise in MuleSoft API design (RAML/OAS) and integration patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka topic design, schema evolution (Avro/Protobuf), and throughput tuning.
  • Advanced knowledge of Snowflake, including ELT processes, clustering, and resource monitoring.
  • Proficiency in data modeling techniques such as 3NF, Dimensional/Star Schema, and Data Vault.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Amazon EKS for running data-intensive microservices.

Data Governance and Quality

A critical component of this role is establishing a robust data governance framework. You will implement data classification, encryption at rest and in transit, and fine-grained access controls (RBAC/ABAC). Furthermore, you will define data quality standards and observability metrics to ensure the freshness, completeness, and accuracy of the data. By establishing automated validation checks, you will ensure that the platform provides a ‘single source of truth’ for all business units.

Strategic Leadership and Mentorship

As a Senior Architect, you will provide the architectural runway for engineering teams. You will be responsible for producing decision records, architectural diagrams, and technical guidance that simplify complex designs for adoption. You will also collaborate with Product, Security, and Compliance stakeholders to align the technical roadmap with business milestones. Mentoring junior and mid-level engineers is a key part of this role, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Location and Eligibility

This is a hybrid role located in Plano, TX. We are specifically looking for local candidates who can commute to the office as required. Due to client requirements, this position is open to H1B visa holders. This is a long-term engagement offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automotive and logistics data solutions. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of delivering enterprise-grade platforms in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
