Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mainframe Tester to lead a critical mainframe rehost transformation project in New Jersey. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless migration of legacy mainframe systems to modern cloud-based environments. As a senior member of the QA team, you will be responsible for defining the overarching test strategy, managing complex data migrations, and ensuring that the rehosted applications maintain functional and performance parity with the original source systems. This position requires a deep technical understanding of mainframe architectures combined with modern cloud infrastructure knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a comprehensive QA strategy for mainframe rehost transformation, covering functional, regression, and performance testing.
- Identify testing requirements across mainframe components, including COBOL programs, JCL streams, VSAM files, and DB2 databases.
- Coordinate with migration and platform teams to validate JCL conversion and scheduler migration (e.g., CA 7, Control-M, AutoSys).
- Perform parallel run testing to compare mainframe outputs against rehosted results on target platforms like Linux Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Develop a robust data validation strategy to ensure data completeness, accuracy, and referential integrity during migration from DB2/VSAM to RDBMS or Cloud Datastores.
- Lead and mentor a team of QA analysts, overseeing test case design, execution, and defect triage in an Agile Scrum environment.
- Utilize automation frameworks such as Selenium, Python, and Shell scripting to enhance testing efficiency for batch output comparisons.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and provide detailed reporting on testing progress, risks, and quality metrics.
Technical Requirements
- 10-15 years of professional QA experience with a strong background in mainframe environments.
- Hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS processing.
- Proven experience in large-scale rehost modernization projects using tools like Micro Focus or AWS Mainframe Modernization.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex batch job execution and performance issues.
- Proficiency with JCL simulators, file compare tools, and performance testing tools like LoadRunner or JMeter.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex project timelines.

Special Requirements
Onsite in New Jersey required. Experience with Micro Focus or AWS Mainframe Modernization is a domain restriction.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
