Role Overview: Azure Databricks Architect
We are seeking a highly experienced Azure Databricks Architect for a long-term contract engagement with our premier client, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), based in Newark, NJ. This is a critical onsite role requiring a deep technical background in modern data engineering and cloud architecture. As an architect, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining sophisticated cloud solutions that leverage the full power of the Azure Data Platform and Microsoft Fabric. This position demands a visionary leader who can translate complex business requirements into scalable, high-performance data architectures.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Leadership
- Design and architect end-to-end data solutions on the Azure Data Platform, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and modern data architecture principles.
- Lead the implementation of Microsoft Fabric environments, integrating various data workloads into a unified analytics platform.
- Develop robust ETL/ELT patterns for data ingestion and processing using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Synapse, and Databricks.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineering teams, establishing development standards and best practices for data warehousing and data lakes.
- Conduct technology proof-of-concepts (PoCs) to validate architectural feasibility and drive innovation within the data ecosystem.
- Optimize data models and schema designs to support high-concurrency analytics and complex business intelligence needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define target state technology roadmaps and ensure IT initiatives support long-term business goals.
- Drive continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt and improve the overall efficiency of the data infrastructure.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 12 years of proven experience in SQL, schema design, and dimensional data modeling.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with modern data engineering technologies on cloud platforms, specifically Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
- Expertise in big data tools including Databricks, Spark, PySpark, and Spark SQL.
- Deep knowledge of Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).
- Strong understanding of data warehouse methodologies and development standards.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments as an independent self-learner.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $170,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)
