Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Azure Network Engineer to join our infrastructure team in McKinney, Texas. This is a critical Day 1 onsite role that requires a deep understanding of cloud networking, infrastructure as code (IaC), and enterprise-level troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust Azure network architectures that support our global operations. You will act as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all things related to Azure and hybrid networking, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across our cloud footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own Azure infrastructure using Terraform as the primary IaC tool.
  • Create reusable Terraform modules from scratch, ensuring best practices in state management and environment isolation.
  • Integrate Terraform with Azure DevOps YAML pipelines for automated CI/CD deployments.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for failed Terraform plans and manage configuration drift.
  • Refactor legacy, manually created Azure resources into fully managed Terraform infrastructure.
  • Design and troubleshoot complex Azure VNET architectures, including hub-and-spoke and peering.
  • Manage and configure Network Security Groups (NSGs), Application Security Groups (ASGs), and User Defined Routes (UDRs).
  • Implement and maintain Azure VPN Gateways and ExpressRoute connectivity for hybrid environments.
  • Oversee Azure Firewall, Network Virtual Appliances (NVAs), and L4/L7 load balancers.
  • Provide L3-level escalation support for complex network issues across the application and OS stack.
  • Maintain high-quality engineering documentation, including network diagrams and runbooks.

Technical Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform on Azure, including variables, outputs, and lifecycle rules.
  • Deep understanding of core networking principles: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and firewalling.
  • Experience with Cisco and Juniper hardware fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN solutions such as EdgeConnect.
  • Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.
  • Proven ability to explain complex networking concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong background in enterprise-level troubleshooting and impact analysis.

Professional Expectations

As a Senior Engineer, you are expected to take full ownership of infrastructure changes during approved windows. This includes meticulous rollback planning and impact analysis. You will contribute to the development of organizational standards and best practices, driving continuous improvement in our engineering operations. This role requires a proactive mindset, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.
