Role Purpose: GCP Data Architect

The GCP Data Architect is a pivotal role designed to provide exceptional architectural solution design and thought leadership. You will enable delivery teams to provide superior client engagement and satisfaction by creating enterprise-wide architectures that are scalable, reliable, and manageable. This role involves high-level strategic planning, technical leadership, and hands-on solutioning for complex data challenges on the Google Cloud Platform.

Core Responsibilities and Strategic Impact

  • Develop comprehensive architectural solutions for new deals and major change requests within existing client engagements.
  • Create enterprise-wide data architectures that ensure systems are highly scalable, reliable, and easily manageable.
  • Provide expert solutioning for RFPs (Request for Proposals) received from clients, ensuring overall design assurance and technical feasibility.
  • Develop a strategic direction to manage the portfolio of to-be-solutions, aligning shared infrastructure services and applications with business outcomes.
  • Analyze technology environments, enterprise specifics, and client requirements to establish a robust collaboration solution design framework.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the design, development, and implementation phases of custom solutions using modern GCP technologies.
  • Define and understand current state solutions, identifying improvements, options, and tradeoffs to define target state architectures.
  • Articulate, document, and sell architectural targets and reusable patterns to stakeholders, proposing investment roadmaps where necessary.
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions to integrate seamlessly with the overall technology ecosystem.
  • Collaborate closely with various IT groups to transition tasks, ensure performance, and manage issues through to resolution.
  • Perform detailed documentation of architectural designs, including application views and multiple technical sections.
  • Validate prototypes from technology, cost structure, and customer differentiation perspectives.
  • Identify problem areas and perform root cause analysis of architectural designs to provide relevant, long-term solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales, program management, and consulting teams to reconcile solutions with the broader enterprise architecture.
  • Track industry and application trends to relate them to future IT needs and strategic planning.

Team Leadership and Delivery Enablement

  • Build and maintain relationships with executives, technical leaders, and product owners to become a trusted advisor.
  • Establish relevant technical and business process metrics (KPIs/SLAs) to drive results across multiple projects.
  • Identify technical, process, and structural risks and prepare comprehensive risk mitigation plans.
  • Ensure quality assurance of all architecture and design decisions, providing mitigation support to delivery teams.
  • Recommend tools for reuse and automation to improve productivity and reduce cycle times.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise frameworks and related artifacts.
  • Ensure architecture principles and standards are consistently applied across all projects.
  • Support pre-sales teams by presenting solution designs and principles to clients.

Competency Building and Team Management

  • Develop Proof of Concepts (POCs), case studies, and demos for new growth areas based on market research.
  • Contribute to the organization’s thought leadership by writing white papers, blogs, and speaking in internal and external forums.
  • Mentor developers, designers, and junior architects to support their career development and enhancement.
  • Anticipate talent requirements based on market trends and lead the hiring process for the architecture team.
  • Manage team performance through goal setting, timely reviews, and constructive feedback.
  • Drive diversity in leadership positions and lead engagement initiatives to build a high-performing team culture.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $180,000 – $240,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Nashville, TN
