Position Summary: Senior AWS Cloud Engineer
We are looking for a seasoned Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join our Newark-based team in a hybrid capacity. This role is designed for a technical leader with over 15 years of IT experience who has spent the last decade mastering the AWS ecosystem. You will be at the forefront of our cloud modernization journey, driving the adoption of automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-native architectures. This is a high-impact role that combines hands-on engineering with strategic architectural oversight and mentorship.
Core Responsibilities and Technical Execution
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of highly scalable and resilient AWS environments.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate the provisioning of cloud resources.
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Bitbucket to accelerate software delivery and improve deployment reliability.
- Manage containerized applications using Amazon EKS (Kubernetes), ensuring high availability and efficient resource utilization.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using CloudWatch, Datadog, and the ELK stack.
- Collaborate with security teams to integrate CrowdStrike, CyberArk, and other security tools into the cloud infrastructure.
- Drive FinOps initiatives to monitor cloud spend, implement cost-saving measures, and establish a show-back model for business units.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AWS services, providing guidance on best practices for IAM, networking (Direct Connect, PrivateLink), and storage.
- Lead complex cloud migration projects using tools like AWS MGN, DMS, and S3 Sync.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, conducting code reviews and fostering professional growth within the team.
- Document all processes and procedures through high-quality SOPs to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance.
Strategic Vision and Cloud Governance
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will influence the long-term cloud strategy of the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring that our cloud infrastructure not only meets current performance requirements but is also built to scale for future growth. This includes staying ahead of emerging AWS services and evaluating their applicability to our business needs. You will play a vital role in maintaining compliance with industry frameworks such as HIPAA and SOC 2, ensuring that our cloud-native designs are secure by default. Your ability to anticipate technical challenges and mitigate risks will be essential to the success of our digital transformation efforts.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT infrastructure with at least 7 years dedicated to AWS cloud engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency in Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Control Tower, Organizations, and hybrid connectivity solutions.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including VPCs, routing, and load balancing.
- Familiarity with data platforms like Snowflake and Databricks in a cloud context.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional certification is highly preferred.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration.

Local candidates only. Hybrid work model in Newark, NJ. Requires 15+ years of total IT experience. AWS Professional certification strongly preferred.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $180,000 – $230,000 per year (Estimated)
