Role Overview
Eniac Systems Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Azure Data Engineer for a critical contract position based onsite in Seattle, WA. This role requires a seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in the data engineering domain, specifically focusing on the Microsoft Azure cloud ecosystem. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing complex data pipelines that drive business intelligence and advanced analytics for our enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Engineering Development: Design, develop, and optimize high-performance ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure Databricks (Spark) and PySpark. You will be responsible for building and maintaining large-scale distributed data processing systems that handle massive volumes of data with efficiency and reliability.
- Azure Cloud Ecosystem: Develop and implement robust solutions leveraging the full suite of Azure data tools, including Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Azure Key Vault. You will build automated data workflows and manage Databricks workspaces to ensure optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
- Data Modeling & Architecture: Design and implement sophisticated data models, including star and snowflake schemas, to support diverse analytics and reporting requirements. You will ensure that all database structures are optimized for query performance and scalability while adhering to strict data governance and security best practices.
- Collaboration & Agile Delivery: Partner closely with data scientists, business analysts, and product teams to deliver high-quality, reliable datasets. You will translate complex business requirements into detailed technical specifications and participate in rigorous code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality.
Technical Environment and Standards
In this role, you will work extensively with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. A deep understanding of Delta Lake architecture is essential to support ACID transactions, time travel, and scalable storage solutions. You will be expected to mentor junior engineers and promote coding best practices across the team. The environment is fast-paced and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and architectural design. As a senior member of the team, you will collaborate with architecture groups to define the future state of secure and scalable cloud data platforms.
Professional Requirements
Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in data engineering. Expertise in Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and PySpark is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade data solutions in an Agile environment. Strong communication skills are required to effectively bridge the gap between technical implementation and business objectives.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)
