Role Overview

The Lead BMC Remedy/Helix CMDB Developer and ITSM Specialist is a critical role dedicated to supporting the high-stakes infrastructure of New York City’s Public Safety agencies. This position requires a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who can navigate the complexities of BMC Remedy and Helix environments to ensure the seamless management of Configuration Items (CIs) across the city’s emergency response and administrative frameworks. Located at 2 MetroTech Center in Brooklyn, this 100% onsite role demands a professional who can balance the rigors of Business-As-Usual (BAU) maintenance with the innovative requirements of NextGen infrastructure initiatives. You will be responsible for the integrity of the CMDB, ensuring that real-time data from discovery tools correctly populates the ITSM ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and manage the full lifecycle of Configuration Items (CIs) within the CMDB, ensuring high data integrity through rigorous reconciliation and normalization processes.
  • Design, develop, and implement complex ARS workflow customizations tailored to the specific ITIL processes of Public Safety agencies.
  • Lead the integration of BMC Remedy with various external data sources, including BMC Discovery (ADDM), Netcool, ScienceLogic, and Active Directory.
  • Maintain and optimize the Remedy 18.x and Helix platforms, ensuring system stability and performance for critical agency operations.
  • Utilize BMC Remedy Smart Reporting to create sophisticated dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights into asset health and system performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from NYC OTI, NYPD, and FDNY to align technical solutions with operational needs.
  • Oversee the discovery process using ADDM to ensure real-time data accuracy within the ITSM ecosystem.
  • Manage the NextGen lifecycle management of CIs, focusing on the transition from legacy systems to modern, cloud-ready Helix environments.

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in BMC Remedy ARS, Helix CMDB, and ITSM development and administration.
  • Expert-level knowledge of BMC Remedy version 18.x or higher, including installation, configuration, and upgrade paths.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with BMC Discovery (formerly ADDM) for automated asset identification and mapping.
  • Proven track record of integrating Remedy with enterprise monitoring tools such as Netcool and ScienceLogic to facilitate automated incident generation.
  • Deep understanding of ITIL frameworks, specifically as they relate to Configuration Management, Change Management, and Incident Management.
  • Strong proficiency in ARS workflow development, including filters, escalations, active links, and API integrations.

Qualifications and Soft Skills

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders in high-pressure environments.
  • Prior experience working with New York City government agencies (OTI, NYPD, FDNY) is highly preferred and considered a significant advantage.
  • Relevant certifications such as BMC Remedy/Helix Certified Professional or ITIL v4 are a significant plus.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in Brooklyn, NY, adhering to the security and operational protocols of public safety facilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and system optimization.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $175,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Brooklyn, NY
