Role Overview: Senior Cloud Security Engineer (2026)
As we move into 2026, the landscape of cloud security has evolved from simple perimeter defense to a complex, identity-centric, and automated governance model. We are seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to lead our security initiatives across multi-cloud environments, specifically focusing on Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is critical for ensuring that our enterprise infrastructure remains resilient against emerging threats while maintaining the agility required for modern software delivery.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Depth
- Multi-Cloud Security Engineering: You will be responsible for the practical implementation of security controls across Azure and GCP. This includes hardening cloud services, configuring secure landing zones, and ensuring that all platform services meet our rigorous internal security standards.
- CNAPP and Advanced Tooling: Leveraging Cloud-Native Application Protection Platforms (CNAPP) like Wiz is a core part of this role. You will manage vulnerability scanning, posture management, and threat detection across our cloud estate, translating tool insights into actionable remediation plans.
- Security as Code (SaC): Automation is at the heart of our 2026 strategy. You must be proficient in Python for scripting custom security logic and Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). You will build and maintain automated guardrails that prevent insecure configurations from reaching production.
- DevSecOps Integration: You will collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins. This involves implementing automated secret scanning, SAST/DAST, and container image signing.
- Container and Kubernetes Security: With our heavy reliance on AKS and GKE, you will secure our containerized workloads. This includes managing network policies, pod security standards, and runtime security monitoring.
- Identity and Access Management (IAM): You will design and enforce Zero Trust architecture principles, ensuring that least-privilege access is maintained across all cloud identities and service principals.
Strategic Compliance and Soft Skills
- Framework Alignment: You will ensure our cloud environments align with global standards such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, and CSA frameworks.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Working within Agile Scrum or Kanban teams, you will manage multiple high-priority deliverables. Your ability to communicate complex security risks to non-technical stakeholders is essential.
- Continuous Improvement: You will stay ahead of the curve by researching new cloud security features and participating in incident management and change control processes in a highly regulated environment.
