Role Overview
The Senior Project Manager and SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) will be a pivotal leader in our Gaithersburg, MD office, driving the end-to-end delivery of the Experiment Manager project. This high-impact initiative involves the implementation of the Genedata Bioprocessor platform, a critical tool for our life sciences operations. As a Senior RTE, you will be responsible for orchestrating multiple Agile teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, and facilitating the seamless integration of COTS SaaS solutions. This role requires a unique blend of technical project management expertise, deep knowledge of the SAFe framework, and the ability to navigate the complexities of the life sciences domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), facilitating Program Increment (PI) planning sessions and ensuring the Agile Release Train (ART) remains on track.
- Lead the implementation of the Genedata Bioprocessor platform, managing the full project lifecycle from inception to deployment.
- Coordinate across diverse engineering, product, and data teams to resolve bottlenecks and manage dependencies.
- Oversee vendor partnerships, specifically focusing on SaaS integration and ensuring third-party deliverables meet quality standards.
- Implement and maintain robust governance and compliance frameworks, particularly relevant to the Life Sciences domain.
- Manage project budgets, financial forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Drive DevOps excellence by integrating CI/CD pipelines into the delivery workflow.
- Engage with senior stakeholders to provide transparent reporting on project health, risks, and milestones.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by conducting retrospectives and implementing Lean-Agile practices.
- Manage risks and issues proactively, developing mitigation strategies to ensure project timelines are met.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in Project Management with a strong focus on Agile methodologies.
- Proven track record as a SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Deep understanding of Agile at Scale and experience leading PI Planning for multiple teams.
- Experience with COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) and SaaS implementations, preferably in a regulated environment.
- Strong background in Vendor Management and Stakeholder Management.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
- Prior experience in the Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical domain is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead through influence across cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as SAFe RTE, PMP, or CSM are highly desirable.

Onsite role in Gaithersburg, MD. Strong SAFe Release Train Engineer experience required. Life sciences experience preferred.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $175,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)
