Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Lead Developer and Architect to join our dynamic engineering team in Benton Harbour, MI. This is a pivotal role requiring at least 5 years of hands-on experience in the architecture, design, and implementation of complex AEM-based solutions. As the AEM Lead, you will be responsible for the technical roadmap of our content management systems, ensuring that our digital platforms are scalable, secure, and highly performant. You will serve as the primary technical authority for AEM Sites and Assets, guiding the development team through sophisticated integrations and custom component creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop AEM technical components, templates, dialogs, and pages, with a specific focus on seamless integration with enterprise e-commerce systems.
  • Lead the implementation of AEM Sites from both Publisher and Author perspectives, leveraging editable templates, content fragments, and experience fragments.
  • Customize and extend the AEM platform using OSGi services, Sling Models, and complex workflows to meet unique business requirements.
  • Develop high-quality, reusable components using HTL (Sightly) and Java, adhering to the latest industry standards and best practices.
  • Integrate AEM with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems, third-party REST APIs, and the broader Adobe Marketing Cloud suite (Analytics, Target, Campaign).
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers, content authors, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Optimize application performance, ensuring low latency and high scalability across global environments.
  • Conduct rigorous code reviews and mentor junior developers to maintain high code quality and architectural integrity.
  • Support deployments and provide expert-level troubleshooting across Development, QA, and Production environments.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, providing accurate effort estimations and technical leadership during sprint planning.

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM 6.x and AEM as a Cloud Service).
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java and J2EE development.
  • Deep understanding of the AEM technology stack: OSGi, Apache Sling, and JCR.
  • Proven experience in developing custom AEM components, Sling Models, and complex workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of AEM Dispatcher configurations, caching strategies, and security hardening.
  • Hands-on experience with modern front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (React or Angular experience is a significant plus).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Maven, Git, and Jenkins for automated build and deployment processes.
  • Experience with RESTful API design and JSON data structures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Adobe AEM Certification (Lead Developer or Architect) is highly preferred.
  • Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) migrations.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices, web accessibility (WCAG), and performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with third-party integration tools such as ObservePoint or OneTrust for cookie consent management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Special Requirements

Visa constraints: NO H1B, NO OPT, NO GC EAD. Relocation is acceptable.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Benton Harbour, MI
