Position Summary
Aditi LLC and Oberon IT are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to drive the reliability, scalability, and security of the Maryland Benefits platform infrastructure. This is a high-impact role focused on architecting production-grade container orchestration and implementing robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks. The successful candidate will be instrumental in modernizing deployment strategies for both legacy systems and cutting-edge AI-driven applications, ensuring rapid and secure delivery across all environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and manage the lifecycle of highly available Kubernetes clusters using Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service).
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for immutable infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, creating modular and reusable code for all AWS resources.
- Lead the implementation of AWS App Mesh to standardize traffic control, visibility, and security across a complex microservices architecture.
- Design and manage HashiCorp Consul for dynamic service discovery and distributed configuration management in hybrid cloud environments.
- Orchestrate complex CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (Groovy scripting) to automate testing, security scanning, and deployment phases.
- Transition application deployments and cluster configurations to GitOps workflows for enhanced auditability and consistency.
- Strengthen infrastructure security by implementing fine-grained IAM roles for Service Accounts (IRSA) and strict network policies within the service mesh.
- Collaborate with AI and Application Development teams to ensure infrastructure supports high-compute requirements for LLM and AI agent workloads.
- Architect auto-scaling strategies using Karpenter or Cluster Autoscaler to optimize both cost and performance for the product suite.
Technical Stack and Specialized Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a technical lead or senior DevOps role specifically focused on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in managing production Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades, node group management, and security hardening.
- Deep proficiency in Terraform for IaC, with a strong portfolio of custom modules and remote state management.
- Hands-on experience with Service Mesh (AWS App Mesh) and Service Discovery tools (Consul) in microservices environments.
- Expertise in AWS networking components including VPC, Transit Gateway, Security Groups, and IAM.
- Experience with Helm charts for package management and deployment on Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems and implement self-healing infrastructure strategies.
Education and General Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in software engineering, systems administration, or DevOps.
- Demonstrated track record of supporting high-traffic enterprise platforms.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this senior-level position.
Special Requirements
Candidate must be local to Maryland (MD) with a local Driver's License (DL).
Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
