Role Overview: Triage Engineer & Embedded Systems Specialist
Heliogic is seeking a highly skilled Triage Engineer with a strong background in C++ and Embedded Development for a critical onsite role in Philadelphia, PA. This position is designed for a technical expert who thrives in complex environments, specifically focusing on the intersection of networking protocols and embedded Linux platforms. As a Triage Engineer, you will be the primary line of defense in identifying, analyzing, and resolving system-level anomalies that impact device performance and connectivity.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Scope
- System Debugging: Perform comprehensive end-to-end system debugging across Linux-based platforms. This includes deep-diving into networking layers, utilizing packet capture tools, and conducting protocol analysis to identify bottlenecks or failures.
- Embedded Development: Leverage 6+ years of experience with C and C++ to develop and maintain firmware and system-level software for embedded devices.
- Networking Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, Wi-Fi standards, TR-069, SNMP, and Docsis to ensure seamless communication between devices and infrastructure.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop robust scripting solutions using Shell and Python to automate diagnostic tasks and improve system observability.
- Data-Driven Insights: Utilize AWS technologies such as S3, Athena, and QuickSight to manage telemetry data, generate actionable insights, and design anomaly detection techniques.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead technical discussions, mentor junior developers, and communicate complex technical insights to stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related engineering field. We require a minimum of 6 years of professional experience specifically focused on Linux development and embedded systems. Proficiency in Java is considered a significant advantage. Candidates must be comfortable working in an onsite capacity in Philadelphia and possess the analytical mindset required to solve high-stakes technical challenges in real-time. This role demands a proactive individual who can design operational tools that enhance system performance and proactively identify issues before they impact the end-user experience.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
