Role Overview: SAP BI Architect

We are seeking a visionary SAP BI Architect to lead our data transformation initiatives in Richmond, VA, with the flexibility of a remote work arrangement. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between complex SAP S/4HANA data structures and actionable business insights delivered through Power BI. Key Responsibilities and Strategic Impact
- Lead Analysis and Design: You will spearhead the analysis of existing SAP S/4HANA reporting environments to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for modernization. This involves deep-diving into legacy reporting structures and translating them into high-performance Power BI models.
- Dashboard Innovation: Convert and redesign complex S/4HANA reports into interactive, user-centric Power BI dashboards. Your goal is to provide stakeholders with intuitive visualizations that drive decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Data Strategy and Architecture: Develop a comprehensive data strategy that integrates S/4HANA with Power BI, leveraging Snowflake as a central data warehouse. You will define the architecture for data ingestion, transformation, and storage to ensure data integrity and performance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business leaders and IT teams to understand evolving reporting needs. You will act as a consultant, translating business requirements into scalable data models and technical specifications.
- Performance Optimization: Define and implement best practices for data modeling and report performance. This includes optimizing DAX queries, managing data refresh schedules, and ensuring that dashboards remain responsive even with massive datasets.
- Mentorship and Standards: Establish governance standards for BI development across the organization. You will provide guidance to junior developers and ensure that all BI assets adhere to established security and quality protocols.
Technical Qualifications and Experience
- SAP Expertise: Proven experience in SAP S/4HANA reporting is mandatory. You should have a deep understanding of S/4HANA data structures, CDS views, and the nuances of extracting data for external BI tools.
- Power BI Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Power BI development, including complex data modeling, DAX, and Power Query. Experience with Power BI Premium features and deployment pipelines is highly desirable.
- Modern Data Stack: Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and its integration with SAP and Power BI. Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and cloud data platforms is essential.
- Analytical Mindset: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues and provide innovative solutions. You should be comfortable working with large, disparate datasets.
- Communication: Superior communication skills are required to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
