Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Front End – React Engineer to join our engineering team for a critical onsite project in Mountain View or San Diego, CA. This is a contract-based position designed for a senior-level professional with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the software development industry. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in architecting and implementing sophisticated user interfaces for high-performance web applications. As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to lead by example, ensuring that our front-end architecture is scalable, maintainable, and aligned with modern industry standards. This role requires a deep technical understanding of the React ecosystem and a passion for creating seamless user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain highly responsive and interactive web applications using React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to translate complex wireframes and visual designs into high-quality, functional code.
- Architect and build reusable front-end components and libraries to streamline future development and ensure consistency across platforms.
- Implement and manage complex application states using Redux, ensuring efficient data flow and synchronization.
- Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs and various backend services to deliver dynamic content and real-time updates.
- Optimize web applications for maximum speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Conduct rigorous unit testing and integration testing to maintain high code quality and minimize production issues.
- Participate in peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain engineering excellence and mentor junior developers.
- Stay abreast of emerging front-end technologies and best practices, advocating for their adoption where appropriate to improve our development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to front-end performance and user interface behavior.
Required Technical Skills
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on front-end technologies.
- At least 3 years of intensive, hands-on experience specifically with React.js in a production environment.
- Expert-level proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Proven track record of implementing state management solutions using Redux or similar architectures.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
- Experience with modern front-end build tools and pipelines, including Webpack, Babel, and NPM/Yarn.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git, and collaborative development workflows.
- Knowledge of responsive design principles and mobile-first development strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with TypeScript for building type-safe and robust front-end applications.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest, Enzyme, or React Testing Library.
- Understanding of CI/CD processes and automated deployment strategies.
- Previous experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
Work Environment and Requirements
This position is strictly onsite at our facilities in either Mountain View or San Diego, CA. Due to the nature of the project and the need for close collaboration with the local team, we are only considering candidates who are currently local to California. Compensation & Location
Salary: $160,000 – $210,000 per year
