Role Summary: Application Support Engineer (WebSphere Commerce)

Savi Tech is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Application Support Engineer to join our team in Springfield, MO. This 6-month contract role is focused on providing comprehensive operational support for a mission-critical IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite (WCS) 8.x e-commerce platform. In the fast-paced world of 2026 retail, maintaining the uptime and performance of online commerce systems is paramount. This position requires a proactive individual capable of handling complex troubleshooting, monitoring, and incident response in a 24×7 shift-based environment.

Technical Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional Experience: Candidates should possess 3-5 years of experience in application support or technical support roles, with a proven track record of maintaining high-availability systems.
  • WCS Expertise: At least 2 years of hands-on experience with WebSphere Commerce Suite (WCS) 8.x is mandatory. You should be familiar with the architecture, components, and common failure points of the WCS platform.
  • Database Proficiency: Strong skills in database technologies such as DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server are required. You must be able to write and execute SQL queries to investigate data-related issues.
  • System Administration: Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and command-line operations is essential for navigating server environments and analyzing logs.

Application Support and Troubleshooting

  • E-commerce Workflows: You will be responsible for resolving issues related to order processing, payment gateway failures, and shopping cart session management.
  • Data Integrity: Managing product catalog and inventory synchronization issues is a key part of the role, ensuring that customers see accurate information at all times.
  • Performance Optimization: You will investigate cache invalidation issues and work on performance tuning to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Batch Processing: Monitoring scheduled jobs and managing feed file processing workflows is critical for backend data integration.

Operational Excellence and ITIL

  • Incident Management: You will respond to production incidents and alerts within defined SLA timeframes, performing root cause analysis and implementing resolutions.
  • Monitoring Tools: Proficiency with APM solutions such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or Nagios is required to track system health metrics like response times and error rates.
  • ITIL Framework: Experience with ITIL processes, including incident, problem, and change management, is highly valued. You will coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Shift Work: This role requires the ability to work in a 24×7 shift-based support environment, providing coverage during peak traffic periods and participating in escalation procedures.
