Role Overview
The Informatica IDMC Data Lineage Specialist is a critical technical role focused on the implementation, configuration, and optimization of data lineage within the Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) ecosystem. As organizations increasingly rely on complex, multi-cloud data architectures, the ability to trace data from its origin to its final consumption point is essential for regulatory compliance, data quality, and operational efficiency. This position requires a deep understanding of metadata management and the technical proficiency to automate lineage extraction across diverse platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and configure Informatica IDMC data lineage capabilities, including metadata scanning, parsing, linking, and visualization to provide a comprehensive view of the data lifecycle.
- Build and maintain end-to-end data lineage maps for critical data assets across multiple systems, including legacy databases, modern cloud warehouses, ETL pipelines, and Business Intelligence tools.
- Collaborate closely with Data Governance, Data Engineering, and Business Teams to identify and onboard key metadata sources into the Informatica IDMC platform.
- Ensure data lineage accuracy and quality by validating lineage paths, resolving identified gaps, and documenting complex transformation logic within the catalog.
- Automate metadata ingestion from a variety of source systems such as Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, Informatica PowerCenter/IICS, and Tableau.
- Develop technical documentation and standard operating procedures for metadata management and lineage maintenance.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to metadata scanners and lineage parsing, ensuring high availability of the governance platform.
- Support impact analysis for proposed changes in upstream systems by leveraging the established lineage maps.
Technical Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with the Informatica suite, specifically focusing on IDMC (formerly IICS) and its governance modules. You should have a proven track record of successfully deploying data lineage solutions in enterprise environments. Proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake are mandatory. Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI is highly desirable, as is an understanding of how these tools consume and represent metadata. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical lineage configurations.
Project Environment
This is a 12-month contract engagement supporting a major digital transformation initiative. The role offers a hybrid or remote work arrangement, though the primary project hub is located in Stamford, CT. You will join a team of dedicated data professionals committed to building a world-class data governance framework. Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
