Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled IBM Netcool Developer to join our technical team in Basking Ridge, NJ. This onsite role is critical for the design, development, and optimization of our Fault Management (FM) ecosystem. As a senior developer, you will be responsible for creating robust modules for event collection, normalization, and correlation across a diverse array of multi-vendor network domains, including RAN, Core, Transport, IP/MPLS, and IT Infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure that our network operations remain resilient and efficient in the face of increasing complexity and event volumes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced modules for event collection and normalization across multi-vendor network domains.
  • Build and maintain rules, probes, gateways, and policies within IBM Netcool/NOI platforms.
  • Develop custom adapters and APIs to facilitate seamless northbound and southbound system integrations.
  • Implement sophisticated logic for alarm enrichment, delay, thresholding, and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Optimize FM databases and message bus efficiency to handle high-frequency event streams without latency.
  • Integrate FM systems with Inventory Topology, GIS, and Performance Management platforms.
  • Drive automation initiatives using NOI Runbooks, Ansible, and AI/ML engines for closed-loop orchestration.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to enable predictive fault analytics and noise reduction strategies.
  • Execute complex data migrations and alarm model harmonization during system upgrades or transitions.

Technical Environment and Impact

In this role, you will be at the forefront of the transition toward AIOps. By leveraging IBM Netcool/NOI, you will help define fault correlation across domains and perform critical service impact assessments. Your work will directly contribute to the development of AI-based FM assistants designed for triage and alarm prediction. This position requires a deep understanding of integration blueprinting and the ability to develop event-driven automation scenarios, such as auto-ticketing and auto-healing, which are essential for modern, self-healing network architectures. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the FM platform provides actionable insights rather than just raw data, significantly reducing the mean time to repair (MTTR) for critical network incidents.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in IBM Netcool development and a proven track record of managing large-scale network environments. Proficiency in scripting and automation tools like Ansible is highly desired. You should have a strong grasp of network protocols and the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in an onsite, collaborative environment are essential for success in this position.
