Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead and coordinate Agile Release Trains (ART) for enterprise-level projects in Pittsburgh, PA. The RTE is a servant leader and coach for the ART, responsible for facilitating ART events and processes and assisting the teams in delivering value. This role requires a deep understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and a proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional delivery cycles in a fast-paced environment. This is an onsite position from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and manage ART events, including PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt workshops.
- Coordinate release planning and execution across multiple Agile teams to ensure alignment with the program vision and roadmap.
- Implement and manage automated release management processes to streamline delivery and reduce manual intervention.
- Identify and manage critical dependencies, risks, and impediments across teams and stakeholders.
- Work closely with Product Management, System Architects, and UX designers to ensure the ART is focused on the highest-priority features.
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to enhance the speed and quality of releases.
- Track and report on ART progress using relevant metrics (e.g., velocity, burn-down charts, feature cycle time).
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and Agile excellence within the ART.
- Communicate release status, milestones, and potential risks to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, with a significant focus on Agile delivery.
- Proven experience serving as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) in a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Deep expertise in SAFe methodologies and Agile practices.
- Strong background in automated release management and DevOps principles.
- Experience coordinating multiple Agile teams (5+) simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- SAFe certification (RTE or SPC) is highly preferred.
The Impact of the RTE

In this role, you will not only manage the mechanics of the release process but also act as a change agent, driving the adoption of Lean-Agile principles across the organization. Your leadership will be instrumental in navigating the complexities of large-scale software delivery and ensuring that the Pittsburgh-based teams achieve their strategic goals.
