Role Overview
Altitude Technology Solutions Inc. is looking for an experienced Data Architect to join our team in San Jose, CA. This is a 12-month contract position requiring a 5-day onsite presence. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, evolving, and optimizing our cloud-based data architecture. We are looking for a professional who combines deep technical expertise in data engineering with the ability to communicate complex architectural visions through clear documentation and visual diagrams. Please note that this role requires alignment with Eastern Standard Time (EST) working hours despite the West Coast location.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure, scalable cloud-based data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes within the Azure ecosystem.
- Lead the selection and integration of cloud data services, including storage, databases, and advanced analytics tools.
- Develop and execute comprehensive cloud data strategies that align with long-term business objectives and technical requirements.
- Create detailed visual diagrams, such as data flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, and system architecture maps, to guide engineering teams.
- Maintain exhaustive documentation of data architecture, design decisions, and governance processes.
- Actively participate in the hands-on implementation of cloud data solutions, ensuring adherence to architectural standards.
- Identify and implement performance optimization strategies to enhance the efficiency of cloud data systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to data quality, pipeline reliability, and data accessibility.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions meet the needs of stakeholders across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering using distributed computing frameworks like Spark, MapReduce, or Databricks.
- Proven track record of successfully designing and deploying cloud-based data solutions, specifically within the Microsoft Azure platform.
- Deep understanding of data modeling concepts, including relational, dimensional, and NoSQL techniques.
- Strong proficiency in database systems and scripting languages such as Python and SQL.
- Exceptional diagramming and visualization skills using tools like Visio or Lucidchart.
- Ability to work onsite in San Jose 5 days a week and maintain a schedule aligned with EST business hours.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $180,000 – $240,000 per year (Estimated)
