Project Overview: IAM Data Modernization

We are seeking a visionary Google Data Architect to lead a high-profile Identity & Access Management (IAM) Data Modernization project in Dallas, TX. This long-term contract initiative involves the massive migration of an on-premises SQL data warehouse to a target-state Data Lake on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The project is designed to revolutionize how the organization handles cyber domain data, enabling advanced metrics, executive reporting, and cutting-edge GenAI use cases. By establishing a single source of truth, this modernization effort will empower the enterprise with natural language querying, accelerated summarization, and cross-domain trend analysis capabilities.

Core Responsibilities and Architecture

As the lead architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and implementation of the Data Lake architecture, utilizing layered models such as Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Your expertise will be critical in designing Cloud Storage (GCS) layouts, including bucket naming conventions, lifecycle policies, and granular access controls. You will oversee the integration of over 30 source system data ingestions and multiple downstream integrations, ensuring a highly available and performant semantic layer. This role requires a deep understanding of distributed file systems and Hadoop/HDFS architecture to facilitate a seamless transition from legacy systems to the cloud.

Technical Stack and Engineering Excellence

  • Data Ingestion & Orchestration: Build robust batch and streaming pipelines using GCP-native services. You will leverage Cloud Composer (Airflow) for workflow orchestration and Pub/Sub for event-driven architectures.
  • Data Processing: Develop scalable transformation logic using Dataflow (Apache Beam) and Spark (Dataproc). Advanced proficiency in BigQuery SQL, including query optimization and cost control, is a must.
  • Governance & Security: Implement comprehensive data catalogs, metadata management, and ownership models. You will be the primary authority on IAM security best practices, VPC Service Controls, and encryption management (KMS/CMEK).
  • DevOps & Reliability: Own the CI/CD pipelines for data workloads and ensure platform reliability through rigorous monitoring, alerting, and observability standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

This is a senior-level role requiring 12 to 14 years of experience in data engineering and architecture, with at least 5 years specifically focused on GCP at scale. A proven track record in on-premises to cloud migrations is an absolute requirement. Candidates must hold a Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification or be willing to obtain it within three months of starting. Additional certifications in Data Engineering or Security Engineering are highly desirable. This position is based in Dallas, TX, and requires a hybrid work schedule with four days onsite per week.

Strategic Impact

The successful candidate will not only be a technical expert but also a strategic partner. You will define and enforce data contracts, schemas, and SLAs to ensure data quality and auditability. Your work will directly contribute to a unified data strategy that supports executive decision-making across the entire cyber domain. If you are a seasoned architect with a passion for cloud modernization and a deep technical background in GCP, we invite you to apply for this transformative opportunity.

Special Requirements

Visa: Only H1B; Location: Local of TX; Work Mode: Hybrid (4 days onsite); Certification: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect required.
