Position Summary
Smart IT Frame is looking for a seasoned Teradata Engineer with extensive experience in enterprise data warehousing. This role is critical for managing and optimizing our client’s Teradata environment, specifically focusing on Reference Data Management (RDM) functionality. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge in data modeling, ETL processes, and complex SQL optimization within the Teradata ecosystem.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Teradata RDM functionality, including setting up RDM List of Values (LOV) and crosswalks.
- Ensure the integrity and maintenance of codes within the RDM framework to support enterprise-wide data consistency.
- Design and implement complex data warehouse solutions using Teradata best practices.
- Develop and optimize high-performance SQL queries and stored procedures for large-scale data processing.
- Collaborate with data architects to refine data models and ensure alignment with business intelligence requirements.
- Perform performance tuning and capacity planning for Teradata environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data quality, ETL failures, and system performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers and analysts.
- Document technical specifications, data flows, and operational procedures for the Teradata environment.
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in Teradata architecture and utilities (BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPT).
- Hands-on experience with Teradata Reference Data Management (RDM) tools and concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and performance tuning techniques.
- Strong understanding of Data Warehousing (DW) concepts, including Star and Snowflake schemas.
- Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica or DataStage is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Teradata Vantage on AWS/Azure) is a plus.
Experience Requirements
- 10 to 15+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering with a focus on Teradata.
- Proven experience in large-scale data migration or integration projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex data sets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Special Requirements
Contract role. Remote. Requires specific hands-on experience in TD RDM functionality (LOV, crosswalk, code maintenance).
Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
