This role is designed for a seasoned professional with at least seven years of hands-on experience in complex networking environments. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house network systems. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all local and wide area network hardware, software, and communication links. The successful candidate will provide high-level technical support and guidance to ensure the network infrastructure meets the evolving needs of the business in the 2026 technological landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders on the seamless integration of new networking solutions and hardware upgrades.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of network devices, including the physical mounting of new equipment and the secure decommissioning of legacy hardware.
  • Monitor network performance and implement optimizations to improve throughput and reliability across the enterprise.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure the security of the network infrastructure by implementing best practices in VLAN management and access control.
  • Work closely with the IT infrastructure team to align network capabilities with organizational goals.

Technical Requirements and Skills

  • Expertise in basic and advanced routing protocols, with a specific focus on EIGRP and OSPF.
  • In-depth knowledge of VLAN Trunking and the configuration of virtual local area networks to segment traffic effectively.
  • Proven experience managing Cisco Wireless networks, including access points and wireless controllers.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals, including VLSM, CIDR, and IP subnetting.
  • Hands-on experience with physical infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic cabling standards.
  • Familiarity with Quality of Service (QoS) implementation to prioritize critical business traffic.
  • Ability to work with Cisco routing and switching platforms in a high-availability environment.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and diagnostic software to proactively identify potential bottlenecks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in network engineering and administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with technical teams and non-technical management.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable and preferred.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (USC/GC only).

Work Environment and Location

This position is strictly onsite in Charleston, SC (29492). Candidates must be prepared to work from the office five days a week. Charleston is a growing tech hub, and this role offers the opportunity to work on-site with a dynamic team in a beautiful coastal city. The initial contract duration is six months, with the potential for extension based on performance and project requirements. Local candidates to South Carolina are strongly preferred to ensure immediate availability for onsite tasks and emergency troubleshooting. The role requires a deep dive into the physical layer of networking, where the engineer will be expected to handle copper and fiber cabling tasks, ensuring that the physical infrastructure is as robust as the logical configurations. In the context of the 2026 technological landscape, the integration of wireless solutions with traditional wired backbones is more critical than ever, requiring a nuanced understanding of signal interference, coverage mapping, and secure authentication protocols.
