Role Overview
The Project Manager position is a high-level leadership role designed for a professional with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the industry, specifically tailored for the Real Estate sector. This role is based in a hybrid capacity out of Manhattan, NY, serving our primary client, New York Life. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the real estate lifecycle, from development to commercial mortgage lending. You will be responsible for managing complex development projects and leading digital transformation efforts that have been ongoing for over 5 years. This requires a blend of traditional project management excellence and modern digital fluency. You will be expected to act as the ‘voice of the customer,’ simulating customer activities to ensure that the final IT products meet the rigorous demands of the business users. Your daily activities will involve direct interaction with high-level stakeholders, both in the business units and within the IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage end-to-end project lifecycles, ensuring all milestones are met with precision and assertiveness.
- Act as the primary liaison between Real Estate Business users and IT departments to align project goals with organizational strategy.
- Oversee digital transformation projects, leveraging 5+ years of specific experience in modernizing legacy systems within the real estate sector.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors, specifically focusing on Deal Path integrations and service delivery.
- Utilize MS Project, Excel, JIRA, and Clarity PPM to track budgets, resource allocation, and task scheduling.
- Facilitate Agile and Scrum ceremonies to maintain project velocity and transparency.
- Manage resource planning and task scheduling for cross-functional teams.
- Directly deal with Real Estate Business users and IT stakeholders on the project.
- Handle problem-solving and analytical tasks to resolve issues occurring during project completion.
Technical and Domain Expertise
The candidate must be assertive in driving project milestones, ensuring that every phase of the project—from initiation to closing—is handled with the utmost professionalism and efficiency. Technical proficiency is a must; you will be utilizing a suite of tools including MS Project for scheduling, JIRA for task tracking, and Clarity PPM or Field Glass for resource and financial management. Experience with ServiceNow is also highly valued for incident and change management. Communication is the cornerstone of this role. You must be able to translate complex technical issues into business-friendly language for management while providing clear, actionable instructions to your technical teams. Problem-solving is another critical component, as you will be the first line of defense when projects encounter roadblocks or budget constraints. You will also be managing relationships with third-party vendors like Deal Path, ensuring that their deliverables align with the project’s overall objectives. This is a 12-month contract with a high likelihood of extension, offering a competitive C2C rate. The interview process is rigorous, involving multiple stages of video calls to assess both your technical skills and your cultural fit within the New York Life ecosystem. If you have a proven track record of managing large-scale real estate IT projects and are local to the NJ/NY area, this is an unparalleled opportunity to advance your career with a Fortune 100 company. Experience in Real Estate Commercial Mortgage Lending is considered a significant added advantage for this specific engagement.
Special Requirements
Interview Process: 20-min intro video, 45-min Trianz technical video, 60-min Customer video. Must have 15+ years experience and Real Estate domain expertise. Hybrid role requiring 3 days in office.
