Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Application Architect to join our Cloud Engineering team as a Senior Tech Specialist. This critical role is based in McKinney, Texas, and requires a Day 1 onsite presence. The primary objective of this position is to assess complex application portfolios and define future-state application architectures that support a phased, low-risk IT integration strategy. You will be instrumental in guiding the transition of legacy systems into modern, cloud-native environments while ensuring business continuity and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of application portfolios across diverse data centers and Azure cloud environments.
- Identify and document intricate dependencies on VMware infrastructure, relational and non-relational databases, and complex network topologies.
- Classify applications based on technical risk, business criticality, and cloud readiness to prioritize migration efforts.
- Define strategic application sequencing for integration, ensuring that high-priority and low-risk transitions are handled effectively.
- Develop detailed application transition runbooks that provide step-by-step guidance for migration teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure, to align architectural designs with organizational goals.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and developers throughout the integration lifecycle.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and cloud services to determine their suitability for the future-state architecture.
- Ensure all architectural designs adhere to industry best practices for scalability, reliability, and security.
- Communicate complex architectural concepts and migration strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 8 to 12+ years of professional experience in application architecture and enterprise-level systems design.
- Proven track record in portfolio rationalization and managing phased transitions for large-scale IT environments.
- Deep expertise in Azure cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS, and serverless architectures.
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, specifically VMware, and their role in hybrid cloud setups.
- Extensive experience with database technologies and networking principles as they relate to application connectivity.
- Familiarity with automation tools and CI/CD pipelines to facilitate seamless application deployments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical landscapes.
- Strong documentation skills, particularly in creating architectural diagrams and operational runbooks.
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or similar industry-recognized credentials.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead through influence.
- Experience working in highly regulated industries or large enterprise environments is a significant plus.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $175,000 – $230,000 per year (Estimated)
