Position Summary: Senior Data Scientist (Optimization & Python)
Smart IT Frame is looking for a Senior Data Scientist with a specialized focus on Optimization Modeling and Python development. This role is centered on solving complex logistical and manufacturing challenges through advanced mathematical programming. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations research and the ability to translate business constraints into robust optimization models. This is a 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension, supporting a client in the scientific manufacturing and pharmaceutical distribution sector.
Core Technical Responsibilities
- Optimization Modeling: Demonstrate expert-level proficiency with the Gurobi Optimization Solver. You will be responsible for formulating and solving linear, integer, and mixed-integer programming (MIP) problems to optimize supply chain and manufacturing workflows.
- Python Development: Utilize the Gurobi Python API (gurobipy) to build and integrate optimization models. You must have the ability to write clean, scalable Python code and perform model debugging and robustness testing.
- Data Engineering and Handling: Proficiency in SQL is required for querying and managing large-scale input data. You will perform extensive data pre-preparation using libraries such as Pandas and Numpy to ensure data quality for modeling.
- Cloud Integration: While not mandatory, experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as a Solution Architect is highly desirable to help deploy models in a cloud-native environment.
- Domain Application: Apply data science techniques to scientific manufacturing processes, specifically focusing on data associated with the manufacture and distribution of vaccines and medicines.
Professional Requirements
- Experience: 8 to 10 years of experience in Data Science, with a proven track record in mathematical optimization and operations research.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to handle complex data structures and derive actionable insights through mathematical modeling.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry is a significant plus, particularly regarding vaccine distribution logistics.
- Communication: Ability to communicate complex mathematical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Special Requirements
Proficiency with Gurobi Optimization Solver and gurobipy is mandatory; GCP Solution Architect skills are desirable; Remote work option available.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $160,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)
