Hybrid AI Engineer with Java (Full Stack) – Columbus, Ohio & Plano, Texas
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic AI Engineer with strong full-stack Java capabilities to join our team. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3-4 days onsite presence in either Columbus, Ohio, or Plano, Texas. The ideal candidate will possess over 12 years of experience, demonstrating a profound understanding of both traditional enterprise Java development and modern AI/ML concepts, including prompt engineering and the application of Large Language Models (LLMs).
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, integrating AI capabilities into robust, scalable enterprise applications. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying solutions that leverage the latest technologies across the full stack, from front-end interfaces to back-end services and cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Expertise:
- Full Stack Development: Lead and contribute to the development of full-stack applications using Java (versions 17, 21, 25), Spring framework, and Spring Batch framework for robust back-end services.
- Front-End Proficiency: Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern front-end technologies such as NodeJS and React JS.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Demonstrate extensive hands-on experience with AWS services, including but not limited to ECS, Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, Glu, Athena, VPC, IAM, Networking (ALB, NLB, etc.), SQS, and Event Bridge.
- Serverless Computing: Implement and manage serverless functions using AWS Lambda to build scalable and cost-effective solutions.
- Event-Driven Architecture: Design and implement event-driven systems utilizing KAFKA for efficient data streaming and processing.
- Workflow Automation: Set up and manage Control-m and MFTS routes for job scheduling and managed file transfers, ensuring smooth operational workflows.
- AI Integration and Prompt Engineering: Apply AI concepts, including prompt engineering, LLMs, and agentic systems, to enhance application intelligence and automation. Experience with GitHub Copilot for code generation is a must.
- Infrastructure as Code: Utilize Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure, ensuring consistency and repeatability.
- CI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and maintain robust Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery processes, from code commit to deployment.
- Comprehensive Testing: Implement and oversee various testing frameworks, including Cucumber for BDD, Top Hat for component tests, Blaze Meter/JMeter for performance testing, JUnit & Mockito for unit and integration tests, Gremlin for resiliency testing, and PACT framework for contract testing, ensuring high-quality and reliable software.
Required Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in software development, with a strong focus on Java and full-stack technologies.
- Expertise in Java (v17, v21, v25), Spring framework, and Spring Batch framework.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies like NodeJS and React JS.
- Extensive hands-on experience with a wide array of AWS services (ECS, Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, Glu, Athena, VPC, IAM, Networking, SQS, Event bridge, Lambda).
- Demonstrated experience with KAFKA eventing and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with Control-m and MFTS routes setup.
- Mandatory experience with GitHub Copilot for code generation, LLMs, and Agentic systems.
- Proficiency in Jenkins and setting up CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with various testing frameworks including Cucumber, Top Hat, Blaze Meter/JMeter, JUnit & Mockito, Gremlin, and PACT framework.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work in a fast-paced, hybrid environment, and strong communication skills.
This contract-to-hire role offers a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to transition into a permanent position after 6 months, contributing to innovative projects at the intersection of AI and enterprise Java.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $124,800 – $124,800 per year
