This role is ideal for a seasoned cloud professional with a minimum of five years of dedicated experience in core GCP services, eager to contribute to advanced cloud infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing robust cloud solutions, with a strong emphasis on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and integrating AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities and Project Scope

As a Core Google Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing and maintaining scalable and secure cloud environments. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including:

  • Designing, deploying, and managing core GCP services such as Cloud Run for serverless applications, Internal Load Balancers for efficient traffic distribution, and Cloud Storage Buckets for secure data storage.
  • Implementing and managing custom IAM roles and policies to ensure granular access control and adherence to security best practices across the GCP environment.
  • Developing and maintaining Pub/Sub messaging systems for asynchronous communication and event-driven architectures.
  • Utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, primarily with Terraform, to provision and manage GCP resources in an automated, repeatable, and version-controlled manner.
  • Establishing and enforcing robust Git/Terraform/GCP workflows to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes, ensuring consistency and reliability.
  • Gaining hands-on experience with AI integration, working on projects that leverage Google Cloud’s AI/ML capabilities to enhance applications and services.
  • Collaborating effectively within multi-vendor environments, specifically with Google consultants, to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of cloud solutions.
  • Communicating technical concepts and project updates crisply and clearly to various stakeholders, including technical teams, project managers, and business users.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues related to GCP services, ensuring high availability and performance of cloud infrastructure.
  • Participating in architectural discussions and providing expert recommendations on GCP best practices, security, and cost optimization.
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational standards and industry regulations in all cloud deployments.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the overall knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates for this role must possess a strong foundation in GCP and related cloud technologies:

  • GCP Expertise: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with core Google Cloud Platform services, demonstrating a deep understanding of their functionalities and interdependencies.
  • Core GCP Services: Proven experience with Cloud Run, Internal Load Balancer, Cloud Storage Buckets, custom IAM roles, and Pub/Sub.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong proficiency in using IaC tools, with a preference for Terraform, for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
  • Version Control & Workflows: Solid understanding and practical experience with Git, Terraform, and GCP workflows for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • AI Integration: Hands-on experience or a strong understanding of integrating AI/ML services within GCP environments.
  • Multi-Vendor Collaboration: Prior experience working effectively in multi-vendor environments, demonstrating strong collaboration and communication skills, particularly with external consultants.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Security Mindset: A strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices, including identity and access management, network security, and data protection.
  • Networking: Knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Experience with GCP’s monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging) for operational insights.
