The Senior Oracle DBA with AWS will be a pivotal member of our client’s team, responsible for leading and executing critical database migration projects to the AWS cloud. This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise in Oracle database administration combined with significant experience in AWS cloud services, particularly in the context of database migrations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both on-premises Oracle environments and cloud-native solutions, with a proven track record of successfully migrating complex database systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end migration of existing Oracle databases from on-premises infrastructure to the AWS cloud environment. This includes planning, design, execution, and post-migration optimization.
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and highly available cloud-based database solutions utilizing a range of AWS services. This encompasses database provisioning, efficient storage solutions, and reliable backup and recovery strategies using services such as Amazon RDS, EC2, S3, and others as appropriate.
- Leverage AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to ensure seamless and efficient data transfer during migration processes, minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
- Conduct thorough assessments of current on-premise database environments, identifying potential challenges and opportunities for optimization, and subsequently recommending best-fit AWS cloud architectures tailored to business needs.
- Develop and execute comprehensive migration strategies, including detailed data transfer plans, rigorous testing protocols to validate data consistency and application functionality, and post-migration performance tuning and optimization.
- Perform regular and proactive database maintenance activities for Oracle databases across various versions (11g, 12c, 19c), ensuring optimal performance, security, and stability.
- Implement and manage advanced database high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Oracle Data Guard, Real Application Clusters (RAC), and GoldenGate, to ensure continuous operation and data protection.
- Proactively troubleshoot and swiftly resolve complex database-related issues, ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of critical production databases.
- Demonstrate strong experience with heterogeneous database migrations, specifically moving data between different database platforms (e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL on AWS).
- Collaborate effectively with development teams, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and operational excellence.
- Stay abreast of the latest AWS database technologies and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance existing systems and introduce innovative solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, with proficiency in Oracle 11g, 12c, and 19c.
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, particularly those related to database management and migration (RDS, EC2, S3, DMS).
- Demonstrated experience in leading and executing database migration projects from on-premises to AWS.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and best practices for database deployments.
- Expertise in Oracle high availability solutions such as Data Guard, RAC, and GoldenGate.
- Proficiency in performance tuning, backup, and recovery strategies for Oracle databases.
- Experience with heterogeneous database migrations (e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- An AWS Certification is a significant plus, demonstrating a validated understanding of AWS services.
- Candidates must be able to handle a hands-on migration from on-premises Oracle to AWS and PostgreSQL.
This is a contract-to-hire position, requiring the selected candidate to be onsite from day one in Irvine, CA. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud migration projects and contribute significantly to the client’s cloud transformation journey.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $70 – $95 per year (Estimated)
