Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated DB2 LUW DBA for a 12-month contract position in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a 100% in-office role, requiring a strong commitment to on-site presence. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in managing and optimizing IBM DB2 LUW databases, coupled with proficiency in MS SQL Server. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity, performance, and security of our database systems. The interview process will consist of a single round of video interviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration: Provide comprehensive administration for IBM DB2 LUW (Linux/Unix/Windows) environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • SQL Server Management: Manage and support MS SQL Server databases, specifically versions 2016 or higher, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Performance Tuning: Conduct in-depth performance tuning, query optimization, and proactive troubleshooting to identify and resolve database bottlenecks and ensure efficient operation.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop, implement, and maintain robust backup/recovery strategies, including High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions and comprehensive disaster recovery procedures.
  • System Scripting: Utilize expertise in Linux/Unix environments for scripting tasks, automating routine database operations, and enhancing system efficiency.
  • Security Management: Implement and enforce solid database security measures, manage access controls, and conduct regular auditing to ensure data protection and compliance.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Set up and manage database monitoring tools, configure alerts, and respond promptly to any performance or availability issues.
  • Capacity Planning: Participate in capacity planning and forecasting to ensure that database resources meet current and future business demands.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other IT personnel to support application development and deployment.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

  • IBM DB2 LUW Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience with IBM DB2 LUW across Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems.
  • MS SQL Server Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with MS SQL Server 2016 or higher, including administration and support.
  • Performance Optimization: Proven hands-on experience with performance tuning, complex query optimization, and effective troubleshooting techniques for database issues.
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Proficiency in designing and implementing robust backup/recovery strategies, HADR configurations, and comprehensive disaster recovery procedures.
  • Linux/Unix Scripting: Solid experience with Linux/Unix environments and strong scripting capabilities (e.g., Shell scripting) for automation and system management.
  • Database Security: A deep understanding of database security principles, access controls, user management, and auditing practices.

Desired Skills:

  • Snowflake Experience: Prior experience with Snowflake data warehousing platform is considered a significant advantage.
  • Cloud Database Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and migration strategies.
  • Automation Tools: Experience with automation tools beyond basic scripting for database management.

Qualifications:
