Overview: Senior Data Scientist (GenAI & Utilities)

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Data Scientist with a strong background in Generative AI (GenAI) and Machine Learning (ML) to join a specialized AI Task Force. This critical role will focus on driving innovation across utility operations, leveraging cutting-edge Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data science principles, practical experience with modern AI frameworks, and a proven track record within the utility, energy, or industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of Generative AI and LLM-based solutions to optimize various utility operations.
  • Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines to enhance the accuracy and relevance of AI outputs.
  • Utilize expertise in frameworks such as LangChain and LlamaIndex to build robust and scalable AI applications.
  • Work extensively with Vector Databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate) for efficient data storage and retrieval in AI systems.
  • Develop and train complex machine learning models using PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI integration and drive project execution from conception to deployment.
  • Apply deep domain knowledge in the utility, energy, or industrial sectors to solve real-world challenges.
  • Deploy AI solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Work with diverse operational data sources, including SCADA systems, maintenance logs, and asset management systems, to extract insights and build predictive models.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the overall growth of the AI Task Force.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Generative AI, LLMs, and related technologies, continuously seeking to integrate new innovations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in data governance and AI ethics.
  • Present findings and project progress to stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in Data Science and Machine Learning roles.
  • Extensive practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines.
  • Demonstrated expertise with LangChain and/or LlamaIndex frameworks.
  • Proficiency in working with various Vector Databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, or Weaviate.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with significant experience using PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Mandatory domain experience within the Utility, Energy, or Industrial sectors.
  • Proven experience with cloud deployment strategies on platforms like Azure and AWS.
  • Strong experience working with operational data, including but not limited to SCADA systems, maintenance logs, and asset management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a hybrid team environment.
  • Must be a local candidate to Corpus Christi, TX, with a preference for hybrid or on-site work arrangements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $180,000 – $250,000 per year (Estimated)
