Job Opportunity: Quantitative Analyst with R and Python Programming Skills

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantitative Analyst with robust R and Python programming capabilities for an onsite, long-term contract position in Jackson, Mississippi. This critical role involves assisting a key agency with federal reporting requirements, focusing on rewriting and validating existing coding processes and reporting mechanisms to align with current industry standards. The successful candidate will operate as an individual contributor, responsible for the research, development, and maintenance of sophisticated statistical reporting models primarily in R. Core Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and meticulously maintain statistical reporting models using R, ensuring accuracy and robustness.
  • Rewrite legacy coding processes and reporting requirements to adhere to current industry standards, enhancing efficiency and reliability.
  • Document all business rules, methodologies, and revision histories comprehensively to ensure transparency and maintainability.
  • Build and deliver robust statistical models that meet stringent federal reporting standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Develop and validate statistical reporting models, ensuring their integrity and effectiveness.
  • Perform thorough data validation, quality assurance, and develop robust audit trails for all processes.
  • Conduct quantitative research and apply advanced analytical problem-solving skills to complex data challenges.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality documentation and presentations to support and maintain the use of models and libraries.
  • Collaborate effectively with functional and technical consultants to ensure successful model building, deployment, and integration.
  • Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including development, back testing, deployment, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders, fostering effective communication.
  • Implement version control and reproducibility practices, adhering to structured model governance frameworks.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on R programming knowledge, coupled with a strong statistical background and understanding. Advanced proficiency in R is essential, encompassing statistical modeling, data manipulation, scripting, and reproducible reporting. The role demands significant experience in developing and validating statistical reporting models, along with a deep understanding of federal reporting standards and regulatory compliance requirements. The ability to rewrite legacy coding processes using current industry standards is crucial. Furthermore, candidates should have 5+ years of experience in building and delivering robust statistical models, developing and back testing, deployment, and UAT. Proficiency in R Language, R Studio, SQL Manager, and SQL Language is required, each with 5+ years of experience. Additionally, 1+ year of experience with ADABAS/Natural, Agile methodologies, and Power BI is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong quantitative research and analytical problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven capacity to work independently as an individual contributor.

Technical Proficiencies

The role requires a high level of technical expertise across several platforms and languages. Advanced proficiency in R is paramount, covering statistical modeling, data manipulation, scripting, and the creation of reproducible reports. Strong SQL skills are also necessary for data querying and management. Experience with R Studio for development and SQL Manager for database interaction is expected. Familiarity with ADABAS/Natural, Agile methodologies, and Power BI will further enhance a candidate’s suitability for this position. The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently is a key behavioral requirement for this role.

Work Environment and Expectations

This is an exclusively onsite role in Jackson, MS, and candidates must be prepared to work from the client’s location. Remote work candidates will not be considered. The position is designed for an individual contributor who can take ownership of tasks, drive projects forward, and deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills are vital for interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that complex analytical findings are clearly articulated and understood across the organization. Compensation & Location

Salary: $70 – $95 per year (Estimated)
