Job Overview: L3 Support for Application and Environment Deployment
We are actively seeking a highly experienced and dedicated L3 Support Engineer specializing in Application and Environment Deployment to join our client, HCL America, for a long-term contract position. This critical role is based in Jersey City, NJ, requiring a hybrid work model with 3 days onsite. The ideal candidate will possess 7-12 years of robust experience in DevOps support, environment management, and IT infrastructure troubleshooting, specifically within the Banking or Capital Markets domain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert L3 support for DevOps engineers, primarily focusing on resolving environment-related issues, with a strong emphasis on Linux environments.
- Diagnose and fix issues encountered during DevOps releases and within various application environments.
- Conduct thorough sanity checks on both infrastructure and application components post-deployment to ensure stability and performance.
- Automate sanity checks and other routine environment management tasks using scripting languages, particularly Python.
- Proactively create and configure new environments for application deployments, leveraging automation tools and Python scripting for efficiency.
- Manage and resolve incidents and service requests using ticketing systems such as Jira and ServiceNow, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
- Collaborate closely with development, operations, and quality assurance teams to streamline deployment processes and enhance system reliability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of deployment pipelines, environment provisioning, and incident management procedures.
- Document solutions, procedures, and best practices to build a comprehensive knowledge base for the support team.
- Participate in on-call rotations or provide after-hours support as needed to address critical issues.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 7-12 years of professional experience in an L3 Support, DevOps Support, or similar IT Support role.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues within Linux operating system environments.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in scripting languages, especially Python, for automation of environment creation, sanity checks, and other operational tasks.
- Hands-on experience with incident management and ticketing systems like Jira and ServiceNow.
- Demonstrable experience in creating and managing application deployment environments.
- Mandatory domain experience in Banking or Capital Markets. Candidates with strong banking experience will also be considered.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications in Linux administration, DevOps, or cloud platforms are a plus.
