Overview:

This is an urgent requirement for a highly skilled Test Engineer specializing in Azure Storage, located in Bellevue, WA. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the Azure Storage team by designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test suites. These test suites are essential for validating Data Direct (DD) and Encryption (EN) functionality on xDPU, a crucial component of Azure’s infrastructure. This position demands a proactive individual who can author automated Python-based test cases, collaborate closely with engineering teams, and ensure end-to-end issue resolution. The role involves working within a dynamic environment, contributing to the continuous improvement of testing processes, and maintaining high standards of quality and reliability for Azure Storage services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Design and Development:

    • Support the core Azure Storage team by meticulously designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test suites specifically tailored to validate Data Direct (DD) and Encryption (EN) functionality on xDPU.
    • Author sophisticated automated Python-based test cases, preparing them for execution in RR Lab environments and porting selected critical scenarios to Power for execution within datacenter tenant (DC) environments.
    • Review and thoroughly understand requirements, functional specifications, and detailed design documentation pertinent to DD/EN enablement on xDPU.
    • Build detailed and exhaustive test plans within Azure DevOps (ADO), ensuring comprehensive coverage of functional, negative, scale, stress, performance, and longevity test scenarios.
    • Develop, automate, and meticulously maintain test cases using Python, organizing them into feature-specific suites to ensure structured and repeatable execution.
  • Execution and Collaboration:

    • Execute tests rigorously using approved lab/DC infrastructure, meticulously tracking execution results, and maintaining accurate records of all testing activities.
    • Collaborate closely and effectively with engineering teams to debug identified issues, validate proposed fixes, and ensure complete end-to-end issue resolution.
    • Raise high-quality defect reports, providing detailed problem descriptions, relevant logs, telemetry data, diagnostic traces, and precise timelines for reproduction.
    • Provide automated bug-specific test suites to assist developers in efficiently validating their fixes and accelerating the resolution process.
    • Work in conjunction with regression teams to ensure the continuous execution of test suites, facilitating the early identification of any regressions.
  • Automation and Infrastructure:

    • Automate scale and longevity test workflows utilizing Power for comprehensive DC tenant validation.
    • Run complex test workflows on secured machines, diligently monitor job execution, file defects, and actively drive issue resolution.
    • Contribute significantly to improving lab infrastructure, including node bring-up, cluster deployment, validation workflows, and monitoring enhancements.
  • Operational Excellence and Compliance:

    • Ensure server health and compliance at all times, coordinating proactively with relevant teams for quick resolution of any deviations.
    • Maintain accurate and timely daily task updates in OneNote or the customer-assigned tracking source, and send daily status emails to all stakeholders.
    • Attend all required meetings without exception, including team syncs, handoff calls, customer discussions, and Scrum ceremonies.
    • Demonstrate a long-term commitment to the project, with a minimum 2-year expectation for project engagement.
    • Take full accountability for all assigned tasks and deliverables, ensuring high-quality, error-free work.
    • Consistently follow all defined processes, procedures, and operational guidelines.
    • Report any infrastructure challenges, SAW issues, SAW VM failures, or network problems immediately to leads and drive quick resolution.

Additional Expectations:

  • Prior hands-on experience with Azure Storage Fabric Tenants, including Blob, Queue, Table, and Files, as well as Azure Storage Explorer.
  • Experience with Node Recovery is considered a significant advantage.
  • Proficient knowledge of ICM, Geneva, Jarvis, ADO, Azure Data Explorer, PowerBI, Power, and Python scripting.
  • Ability to adapt to the project’s 24×7 operational model, which may include monthly rotations across morning, general, and afternoon shifts for offshore locations only (this specific role is in Bellevue, WA, so this applies to the broader project context).

Mandatory Skills:

  • Azure DevOps (ADO)
  • Azure Storage
  • Scripting (Power/Python)
  • Test Design and Execution
  • Test Reports and Dashboards

Special Requirements

Demonstrate long-term commitment to the project minimum 2year expectation.
