About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle Exadata Architect to join our team for a contract position in Irvine, CA. This role requires a deep understanding of Oracle Database administration, Exadata engineering, and cloud technologies, particularly AWS. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of architecting and implementing robust, scalable, and highly available Oracle solutions both on-premises and in the cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert-level architectural guidance and hands-on engineering for Oracle Exadata environments.
- Design, implement, and manage high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for Oracle databases, spanning on-premises and AWS cloud infrastructures.
- Oversee the administration of Oracle databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
- Leverage expertise in Oracle technologies such as RAC, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, and GoldenGate for database management and protection.
- Deeply understand Exadata storage internals, including Smart Scan and Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC), to optimize performance and storage efficiency.
- Manage the lifecycle of Exadata systems, including patching, upgrades, and maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Architect and implement Oracle solutions within the AWS cloud, utilizing services like RDS Oracle, EC2 Oracle, DMS, S3, KMS, CloudWatch, and IAM.
- Configure and manage AWS networking components such as VPC, Direct Connect, and Transit Gateway to ensure seamless connectivity and security.
- Utilize Linux (OL, RHEL) and scripting/automation tools like Ansible for system management and deployment.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for architectural designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including development teams, infrastructure teams, and business leaders, to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex database and Exadata-related issues, providing timely and effective resolutions.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Database administration.
- 5+ years of dedicated experience with Oracle Exadata engineering or architecture.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with RAC, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
- In-depth knowledge of Exadata storage internals, Smart Scan, and Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC).
- Experience with Exadata patching and lifecycle management.
- 3-5 years of practical experience with AWS cloud services, including RDS Oracle, EC2 Oracle, DMS, S3, KMS, CloudWatch, and IAM.
- Proficiency in AWS networking, including VPC, Direct Connect, and Transit Gateway.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (Oracle Linux, RHEL) and scripting/automation tools like Ansible.
- Proven experience architecting HA/DR solutions across both on-premises and AWS environments.
- Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other database technologies or cloud platforms.
- Certifications in Oracle technologies or AWS.
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise environments.
