Position Overview:
The Mississippi Department of Finance & Administration is seeking a highly skilled and experienced third-level professional Full Stack Developer. This role is crucial for performing complex assignments that include the development of new or improved applications, comprehensive application design, ensuring robust security measures, validation processes, thorough evaluation, and successful implementation of software solutions. The ideal candidate will be adept at solving intricate technical problems that require an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors and will also be responsible for mentoring and guiding junior development staff.
A key responsibility for the selected candidate will be to upgrade multiple existing applications to the latest .NET Core version. This will involve making significant database and functional enhancements to optimize application performance, improve overall functionality, and ensure scalability for future needs.
Mandatory Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field is required.
- A minimum of 7+ years of direct, hands-on experience in creating and developing applications using multiple programming languages is essential.
- A minimum of 5+ years of direct experience in database design, administration, and management is mandatory.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in application and database security, privacy protocols, and compliance decisions is required.
Required Technical Skills:
Operating Systems:
- Proficiency with Windows Server (Versions 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) at an Intermediate level is required.
Programming / Development:
- Expertise in .NET Core at an SME (Subject Matter Expert) Level is required.
- Expertise in C# at an SME (Subject Matter Expert) Level is required.
- Advanced knowledge of .NET Framework is expected.
- Advanced knowledge of VB.NET is expected.
Database / Tools:
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft SQL is required.
- Advanced proficiency with IIS 11 is required.
- Strong SQL and SQL Database expertise is a must.
- Demonstrated IIS configuration experience is necessary.
- Proficiency with Windows Server 2016-2025 is required.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience in documentation and knowledge transfer is highly valued.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Experience with IBM DB2 is a plus.
- Familiarity with Red Hat Linux (zLinux, SUSE) is beneficial.
- Experience with Drupal CMS is a plus.
