Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer to join our Credit Execution Team. This is a hybrid role, requiring candidates to reside within commuting distance of Wilmington, DE, or Baltimore, MD. The position offers the potential for extension or conversion to a full-time employee (FTE) role. For conversion consideration, candidates must live within 50 miles of our OneMain corporate offices in Wilmington, DE, or Baltimore, MD.
This role demands significant experience within the financial services industry, specifically with strategy-based decisioning platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, strategic thinking capabilities, and excellent collaboration skills to drive optimization and deliver value throughout the modernization journey. You will be an integral part of a diverse team working across multiple risk-based platforms tied to credit execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in technology, credit risk, and product management to execute the modernization roadmap.
- Gain deep proficiency in the existing decision engine architecture and business workflows, taking the lead on enhancement initiatives and code improvements.
- Assess and identify opportunities for optimization during the platform’s transition to its target state, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
- Lead technical discussions, propose strategic upgrades, and ensure the smooth modernization of critical systems.
- Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient code adhering to best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.
- Mentor junior developers and share technical knowledge within the team.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Document technical designs, solutions, and processes thoroughly.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related statistical field.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in financial services, with a focus on strategy-based decisioning platforms.
- Demonstrated strong software engineering fundamentals, with the ability to work across a modern tech stack, including open-source solutions and off-the-shelf rule engine offerings.
- Over 8 years of programming experience, with proficiency in languages such as Java and Python, and a strong fundamental understanding of data structures.
- Proven experience working with complex datasets and large-scale data processing.
- Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud services, containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), and programming in Java, SQL, and JSON to support design and implementation tasks.
- Experience with DevOps practices in a cloud environment.
- Proven track record in modernizing enterprise systems to cloud-native architectures.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies and incremental delivery approaches.
- Expertise with decision engines and rule-based systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior exposure to data build tool (dbt).
- Located within a commutable distance to our office in Wilmington, DE.
