Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Digital Accessibility Program Manager to lead and embed accessibility best practices across our organization. This role is crucial for ensuring our digital products and services are usable by everyone, aligning with our healthcare mission and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and scaling a comprehensive digital accessibility program, fostering a culture of inclusivity, and serving as the primary subject matter expert.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Design & Execution: Develop and lead a scalable, cross-functional accessibility program that aligns with our healthcare mission. Define and track key success metrics, such as audit pass rates and issue remediation Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Integrate accessibility into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from initial requirements gathering through to final deployment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with Product Management, Engineering, User Experience (UX), Quality Assurance (QA), and Compliance teams to prioritize and implement accessibility initiatives. Act as the go-to subject matter expert (SME) for all accessibility-related standards, tools, and decision-making processes. Collaborate closely with Legal and Regulatory affairs teams to manage accessibility risks and ensure readiness for compliance.
  • Evaluation & Testing: Coordinate and oversee accessibility audits, including both manual and automated testing, across various platforms such as web, mobile applications, and third-party integrated systems. Recommend and operationalize effective remediation strategies in close collaboration with development and QA teams. Manage the procurement and utilization of essential accessibility testing tools, including but not limited to Axe, WAVE, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
  • Education & Advocacy: Lead and deliver comprehensive accessibility training sessions for diverse teams, including product, engineering, and design. Cultivate and promote an internal culture of accessibility awareness and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Build and maintain a strong network of accessibility champions within various teams to drive adoption and ongoing commitment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital accessibility, product development, or program management.
  • A strong understanding of current accessibility standards and regulations, including WCAG 2.1/2.2, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, and specific digital health accessibility challenges.
  • Familiarity with common assistive technologies and a range of accessibility testing tools.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large, complex, cross-functional initiatives within technology or healthcare settings.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex accessibility standards and translate them into practical, actionable guidance for various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working within regulated industries, particularly healthcare or Medical Technology (MedTech).
  • Working knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and its specific implications for User Experience (UX) and accessibility design.
  • Relevant accessibility certifications, such as IAAP CPACC, WAS, or CPWA, are highly preferred.
  • Experience in influencing stakeholders or contributing to the development of inclusive design systems.

Special Requirements

Onsite in Louisville, KY. 12 months contract. Familiarity with assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools. Experience influencing or building inclusive design systems. Working knowledge of HIPAA and its implications for UX/accessibility. Accessibility certification (IAAP CPACC, WAS, or CPWA preferred).


Compensation & Location

Salary: $70,000 – $100,000 per year

Location: Louisville, KY
