Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP ABAP/BW Consultant to join our team for a hybrid engagement. This role requires a deep understanding of SAP BW and ABAP development, with a focus on data modeling, ETL processes, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully delivering end-to-end SAP BW implementations and optimizing performance within complex SAP environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Modeling & Warehousing: Design, develop, and maintain robust data models including InfoProviders, DSOs, InfoObjects, and CompositeProviders within SAP BW/4HANA or BW on HANA environments. Ensure data integrity and efficiency in all modeling efforts.
- ETL Development: Build, manage, and troubleshoot data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. This includes developing and configuring transformations, Data Transfer Processes (DTPs), and InfoPackages to ensure seamless data flow.
- ABAP for BW: Develop and enhance ABAP programs for BW, including Start, End, Expert, and Field-level routines. Implement complex data logic, debugging, and ensure efficient data processing.
- Reporting & Analytics: Create Business Explorer (BEx) queries and develop reports using SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or SAP BusinessObjects. Support business users by providing accurate and timely insights through effective reporting solutions.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize the performance of HANA models, SQL queries, and CDS views. Proactively identify and resolve data load and performance bottlenecks to ensure system efficiency.
- Support & Monitoring: Monitor SAP BW Process Chains, ensure data quality standards are met, and provide comprehensive ongoing production support. Address and resolve issues promptly to minimize business impact.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed technical design documents, functional specifications, and other relevant project documentation. Ensure all developed solutions are well-documented for future reference and maintenance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders and other IT teams to understand requirements and deliver effective SAP BW solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 36 months (3 years) of hands-on experience in SAP BW and ABAP development.
- Demonstrated experience with at least two full end-to-end SAP BW implementation projects.
- Strong expertise in SAP BW (7.x, BW/4HANA), ABAP programming, SQL, and data modeling techniques.
- Experience working with SAP ECC or S/4HANA modules, particularly FI, SD, and MM.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills
- Experience developing custom extractors (Generic or Function Module-based).
- Familiarity with SQLScript and Core Data Services (CDS) Views.
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP BusinessObjects reporting tools.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring 4 days onsite in Washington, DC, with 1 day remote flexibility. The engagement is expected to last 6+ months, with potential for extension. Mode of Interview (MOI) is virtual.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $70 – $90 per year (Estimated)
