Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Oracle OIPA Engineer with strong experience in Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) to support the RiverSource business. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable insurance solutions, working closely with business, technology, and project teams to deliver high-quality applications aligned with enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop technical solutions using Oracle OIPA aligned with business and architectural standards.
  • Create low-level design documents, technical specifications, and code artifacts.
  • Configure and develop OIPA components including: Rules Palette (Admin, Plan, Transaction Rules), Activities & Transactions, Product/Plan configuration, Policy lifecycle modeling.
  • Develop and maintain applications using SQL, XML, and Java.
  • Build and support API integrations with upstream/downstream systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, peer reviews, and ensure adherence to development standards.
  • Perform unit testing, support SIT/UAT, and resolve defects promptly.
  • Collaborate with QA teams for test case creation and test data preparation.
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership and governance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.
  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Work in Agile teams, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and design discussions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA).
  • Strong hands-on expertise in OIPA Rules Palette, configurations, and lifecycle modeling; Activity/Transaction configuration; Policy administration and annuity products.
  • Strong programming skills in SQL, XML, and Java.
  • Experience with API integrations and system interfaces.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (or Azure/GCP) cloud platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Ansible.
  • Familiarity with tools like Git, Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Strong understanding of database development (views, stored procedures, functions).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Domain Expertise (Must Have):

  • Knowledge of Annuity Products: Fixed, Indexed, Variable, Registered Annuities; Surrender charges, riders, premium allocation; Interest calculations, payouts, contract lifecycle events.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with UNIX/Linux scripting.
  • Exposure to container technologies (Docker, EKS, ECS).
  • Knowledge of AI/ML Ops (nice to have).
  • Full-stack development experience with AWS services.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $110,000 – $160,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Minneapolis, MN
