Job Summary:
Value Technology is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Progress OpenEdge Production Support specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our OpenEdge-based applications and providing timely and effective solutions to production issues. This role requires a deep understanding of OpenEdge architecture, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for Progress OpenEdge applications in a production environment.
- Monitor system performance and identify potential issues proactively.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, including analyzing logs, debugging code, and implementing fixes.
- Collaborate with development, database, and infrastructure teams to resolve complex issues.
- Develop and maintain documentation for support processes and troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24×7 support as needed.
- Implement and maintain monitoring tools to ensure system availability and performance.
- Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and implement preventative measures.
- Manage and prioritize support requests and incidents according to severity and impact.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest OpenEdge technologies and best practices.
- Work with vendors to resolve issues related to OpenEdge software and infrastructure.
- Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades and maintenance activities.
- Contribute to the development of knowledge base articles and training materials for support staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven experience in supporting Progress OpenEdge applications in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of OpenEdge architecture, including AppServers, databases, and networking.
- Proficiency in Progress 4GL programming language.
- Experience with OpenEdge database administration, including performance tuning, backups, and recovery.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as OpenEdge Management or similar.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and incident management processes.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Experience with scripting languages such as shell scripting or Python.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure is a plus.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $60 – $75 per year (Estimated)
