Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and independent Data Architect with a strong background in the Health Care Payer domain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing integrated, scalable, efficient, and secure data systems to support healthcare analytics and data-driven decision-making. This role requires expertise in designing and implementing scalable, flexible, and secure interoperability solutions aligned with USCDI-US Core compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Integrated, scalable, efficient, and secure data systems for storing and processing data to support healthcare analytics and data-driven decision making.
- Design and implement scalable, flexible, and secure interoperability solutions aligned to USCDI-US Core compliant.
- Develop and maintain data models (logical, physical, and conceptual) that support healthcare-specific requirements (Clinical, Claims, Member, Provider, EHR etc.) and other data architecture artifacts.
- Evaluate and recommend data management technologies, platforms, frameworks, and methodologies that optimize data collection and integration for healthcare applications.
- Oversee the implementation of data governance policies to ensure data integrity, quality, security, and compliance with other relevant healthcare regulations to protect sensitive patient information with HIPAA standards.
- Ensure data architecture complies with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, GDPR, and other privacy laws.
- Candidates need to be independent thought leaders and able to self-direct.
- Possess expertise and sound foundation in data management techniques & principles.
- Hands-on experience in end-to-end data processing is a must.
- Collaborate with Business data analysts, data scientists, IT Professionals, and business leaders to understand their data needs and ensure architecture supports organizational goals.
- Optimize data storage solutions, reducing latency and ensuring quick access to real-time and historical data.
- Help to establish and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring data consistency, quality, and standardization across systems.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies in healthcare data management.
- Propose innovative solutions to enhance data-driven decision-making.
- Provide training and guidance to other team members.
Experience & Skills:
- Expertise in Data Architecture, databases, and cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, CCDs, HIE, USCDI-US Core etc.).
- Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases, PySpark, and Python.
- Experience with data modeling tools like Erwin.
- Experience with integration tools like Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Kafka, IBM Datastage, Informatica etc.
- Understanding of business intelligence (BI) and analytics platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- 5+ years of experience with managing large-scale data systems in healthcare.
- 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing interoperability solutions in healthcare.
- 5+ years of experience in solutioning cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake etc.)
- Experience with major EHR systems like Epic, Cerner etc. is a plus.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 per year
