Job Description: Azure Platform Architect
We are seeking an experienced Azure Platform Architect to lead application and workload migration discovery, assessment, and planning, driving execution governance. This role involves close collaboration with application owners, security, and operations teams to gather technical and business inputs, determine migration readiness, select appropriate migration approaches (rehost/refactor/retire/retain), define migration waves and sequencing, and ensure all risks, dependencies, and acceptance criteria are clearly understood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Azure Subscriptions and Landing Zones.
- Leverage Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Azure Well-Architected Framework.
- Lead Azure Migrations, including discovery, assessment, dependency analysis, and migration waves.
- Utilize tools such as Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery (ASR), Azure Database Migration Service (DMS), and AzCopy.
- Employ scripting for discovery/assessment reporting using Power, Azure CLI, and/or Python.
- Implement and manage Azure Monitor and App Insights.
- Work with Azure DevOps and Github for CI/CD and code management.
- Utilize Azure Arc for hybrid cloud management.
- Lead end-to-end migration discovery: build and validate application inventory, identify owners, capture workload criticality, SLAs, and environment details (prod/non-prod).
- Perform migration assessments and readiness analysis: dependency mapping, sizing, constraints, licensing considerations, and identification of migration blockers.
- Define migration strategy per workload (e.g., rehost, re-platform, refactor, retire, retain) with clear rationale, risks, and effort assumptions.
- Create migration waves and sequencing plans considering dependencies, business calendars, and cutover complexity; maintain an integrated migration plan.
- Demonstrate experience in migrating various Azure services: Virtual Machines, SQL, Storage accounts, etc.
- Showcase experience in implementing High Availability & Disaster Recovery solutions.
- Maintain strong documentation discipline: produce assessment outputs, target migration approaches per app, and dependency diagrams.
- Experience defining and running a migration factory operating model (intake, assessment, wave planning, cutover management, and reporting cadence).
- Experience assessing legacy Azure tenants retained for legal hold/retention and defining long-term retention strategies aligned to target platforms.
- Familiarity with migration of Microsoft Dynamics and Azure Arc.
- Possess certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert and/or Azure Administrator Associate.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Azure Architect or similar role.
- Deep understanding of Azure cloud services and architecture.
- Expertise in cloud migration strategies and methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools.
- Familiarity with security best practices in Azure.
