Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in Database Development and PySpark. This is a long-term contract role, fully remote, offering an open rate. The ideal candidate will have 9+ years of experience and a proven track record in optimizing database performance, developing complex queries, and working with big data technologies like Databricks and Synapse/Fabric.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Development: Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and SQL jobs/scheduling.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement and manage indexing strategies for performance optimization and query tuning.
  • PySpark Development: Develop and deploy data pipelines using PySpark, with experience in Azure Synapse or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Databricks Experience: Utilize Databricks for data engineering tasks, including reverse engineering existing code to understand and improve data processes.
  • Data Pipeline Management: Ensure the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of data pipelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists and other stakeholders to deliver data solutions.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 9 years of professional experience in Data Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in Database Development, including complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and SQL jobs/scheduling.
  • Proficiency in Indexing Strategy for performance optimization and query tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with PySpark development, preferably within Synapse or Fabric environments.
  • Experience with Databricks, including reverse engineering existing code.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
