Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong focus on MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB to join our team. This is a contract position requiring 3 days a week onsite presence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in open-source DBA environments, production troubleshooting, and cloud technologies like AWS (EC2, RDS). Automation exposure using Ansible and CloudFormation is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis databases in production environments.
- Deploy, migrate, and upgrade databases on AWS Aurora, RDS MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues under pressure.
- Implement and manage database replication and high availability solutions.
- Utilize AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and others for database infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible and AWS CloudFormation.
- Ensure database security, integrity, and availability.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure smooth database operations.
- Perform database tuning and optimization for performance and cost efficiency.
- Understand and potentially tune/write stored procedures as required.
Mandatory Skills:
- Strong MySQL (experience >60%)
- PostgreSQL (experience >40%)
- Open-source DBA experience
- Production troubleshooting
- AWS (EC2, RDS) knowledge
- Automation exposure (Ansible, CloudFormation)
- ACID, normalization, transactions mastery
- Fast decision-making
- Clear communication skills
Recommended Skills:
- MongoDB experience
- HAProxy, Keepalived configuration and management
- Strong scripting knowledge (e.g., Python)
- Experience with database refreshes from production to non-production
- Understanding and tuning of stored procedures
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The client is looking for a candidate with a robust foundation in MySQL and PostgreSQL, capable of handling production environments and troubleshooting complex issues. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and automation tools is crucial. While MongoDB experience is recommended, the primary focus is on MySQL and PostgreSQL expertise. The candidate should be a proactive problem-solver and an effective communicator.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $70,000 – $120,000 per year (Estimated)
