Job Title: Mainframe DB2 System DBA
Quantum World IT is seeking a highly skilled Mainframe DB2 System DBA for an onsite role in Plano, Texas. This is a contract position with TCS.
Job Description:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, migration, configuration, and maintenance of DB2 subsystems on the z/OS environment. This role requires a deep understanding of DB2 catalog/directory management, SMP/E installations, and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform DB2 subsystem installation, migration, and configuration.
- Manage DB2 catalog and directory.
- Execute SMP/E installations and maintenance procedures.
- Tune DB2 buffer pools and EDM pools for optimal performance.
- Manage DB2 logs, BSDS, and active/archive logs.
- Monitor DB2 performance using tools like OMEGAMON or Mainview.
- Apply DB2 PTFs and APAR fixes as needed.
- Manage DDF and TCP/IP connectivity for DB2.
- Monitor the DB2 on z/OS environment.
- Create, modify, and maintain DB2 databases on the z/OS environment.
- Provide technical system support for DB2 subsystems, database tools, and utilities.
- Support DB2 business, end-user, and application requirements.
Typical Requirements (Technical):
- DB2 subsystem installation, migration, and configuration
- DB2 catalog/directory management
- SMP/E installation & maintenance
- DB2 buffer pool tuning, EDM pool tuning
- Managing DB2 logs, BSDS, active/archive logs
- Performance monitoring using OMEGAMON, Mainview, or similar tools
- Applying DB2 PTFs, APAR fixes
- Managing DDF, TCP/IP connectivity for DB2
Pre-Screening Questionnaire:
- Which ZPARM controls the Batch and TSO connection?
- When the display database command is issued and you see that there are several objects in LPL status, what should you do to correct the problem?
- During DB2 Disaster recovery, what is the first tablespace or the object is recovered?
- Let me know the DB2 early code command.
- If the active log offload task remains stalled, the active logs eventually become full and DB2 stops the database update activity. What should be the immediate action?
- Mention the DB2 SMF records.
This role is critical for maintaining the stability and performance of our client’s DB2 environment. We are looking for candidates with a strong background in system-level DB2 tasks, not just DBA or application support.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $70,000 – $150,000 per year
