Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer with a strong focus on EDI development and SAP ABAP. This hybrid role requires candidates to be onsite three days a week and work remotely for two days. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of EDI standards, data mapping, and SAP PI/PO functionality. You will be responsible for translating business requirements into technical solutions, designing and developing technical solutions, and performing root cause analysis on application issues. Key Responsibilities:
- Take over and manage internal EDI development.
- Leverage SAP to deliver and implement moderate to highly complex technical solutions that add business value.
- Perform program activities based on technical specifications and provide expert technical knowledge.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support for the application development team.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and explain complex technical concepts in simple business terms.
- Design and develop technical solutions that align with established standards and business needs.
- Perform root cause analysis on application issues and implement long-term fixes; document solutions to build the support knowledge base.
- Evaluate current system capabilities, recommend necessary changes, and assess their business impact.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to agree on technical solutions before implementation.
- Ensure all technical documentation is accurate and updated as changes occur.
- Test technical changes and support business system analysts with functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
- Monitor and optimize ABAP programs using tools like Runtime Analysis, Code Inspector, SQL Trace, and System Log.
- Design overall system architecture and develop prototypes for major components.
- Follow defined methods, standards, and policies for system development and operations.
Technical Expertise Required:
- EDI: Strong experience with EDI, including common standards and data mapping.
- SAP ABAP: 5-7+ years of experience in SAP ABAP development.
- SAP PI/PO: Familiarity with SAP PI/PO functionality and architecture.
- Technical Specifications: Ability to create technical specifications based on functional requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to problem-solve, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Advanced degree in computer science or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid role: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.
- Location: Woodridge, IL. Local candidates preferred.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $156,000 per year (Estimated)
